A mosque

Europeans became interested in Islamic culture, which is unusual to them, long time ago. Islamic culture first of all is formed by religion.

A mosque for a Moslem isn’t only a place for a prayer; it’s a center of his life. French writer Le Corbusier reflects a view of European man to so important object in Moslem’s life as a mosque in his book «Travel to the East».

"… It must be a silent place focused to Mecca. It should be spacious, so that heart was calmly, and high, so that prays reached addressee. There should be plentiful scattered light and there shouldn’t be any shadow, and it needs an ideal simplicity of ensemble, which forms should be touched by immensity. An interior should be more spacious, than all area, and it’s not to gather all people but it’s for several men, who come to pray, to feel awe and pleasure to be in such big building.

Nothing is hidden from a sight: you enter and see a huge square, covered with new golden mats from rice straw; there is no any furniture, any chairs but only several desks with the Koran on them, in front of them believers kneel and bow, touching a floor with their foreheads; with one sight you can see four corners…."
