Cosmetics and perfume of the East
Egyptians knew about how to extract essence from plants thousand years ago. And this knowledge opened a door to many-sided word of delicate aromas of essential oils.
So it’s not surprising that perfume appeared as a secret art to reach a spiritual perfection through reaching physical, emotional and mental perfection. Egyptians joined aromas with a God of Sun – Ra. So they gave a spiritual meaning to aromas.
Cosmetics and perfume had some symbolical meaning and people got accustomed to different association from different aromas.
Heavy flower aroma is an aroma for evening and light fresh aroma is a morning aroma. Aromas were chosen for different situations and moods (an aroma put yourself under somebody's supervision or an aroma to put somebody under your supervision)
Perfume or aromas and a dance were combined, supplemented each other and strengthen dance’s effect.
