You should take care of jewels for an odalisque image besides decoration of a costume, a walking stick, a shawl and other accessories. Often you can see massive gold jewels on east women. It’s because of east countries rich in gold, and it is not so value as in the Europe.
For east dances you’ll need massive jewels. Small earrings and pendants will be lost on a background of numerous costumes’ decorations. Such gold jewels will be very expensive. Therefore it is possible to change them with qualitative bijouterie.
However gold jewels have advantages. Gold doesn’t grow dim, doesn’t rust, doesn’t reacts with other substances, doesn’t oxidize and a main thing doesn’t not depend on a fashion. Besides an allergy on gold meets very seldom while an allergy on other metals meets often enough.
Gold jewels have their own classification of quality. In international trade gold’s quality is defined by carats. Trial can be marked 10c, 12c, 14c, 18c, and 24c. 24c is a pure gold. Mark 18c means, that gold contains 18 parts of gold and 6 parts of other metals.
In Europe quality of gold is defined by trials. Trials marks quantity of gold in 1000 parts. More often you can meet gold of 585’ trial. It contains 58.5 % of gold and it can be marked with trial 14c.
It is very difficult to find a jewel from pure gold. It’s because of gold is very soft metal. Such jewel will not approach for every day wearing. That’s why they add other metals to gold, which lower its cost, but add durability.
Yellow, white and red gold also are received because of adding other metals to gold. If you add silver to gold, for example, you will get gold with greenish shade.
Gold is also used to cover other less valuable metals. Such jewels are cheaply, but you should be more careful with them because a layer of gilding can be erased
