Jewellery: bijouterie
The history of bijouterie creation goes in an antiquity. Women decorated themselves with various objects, such as polished stones, teeth of animals, etc. Then people were opened silver, gold, precious stones, and learned how to process them. Gold jewels with big precious stones showed prosperity of people, their position in a society. But not all people could spend such sum of money for purchase, storage and care of a jewel.
But everyone wanted to look beautifully and richly. Therefore handicraftsmen found an offer for demand. There are metals cheaper then gold and silver, such as copper, cupronickel, bronze. There are also cheaper precious stones and it’s hard to distinguish part of them from precious stones. And there was bijouterie.
A bijouterie had come into a fashion during an epoch, which Francis Scott Fitzgerald named as "an epoch of a jazz". Coco Chanel brought into fashion expensive and qualitative bijouterie. She was first person who had change real brilliants with false one.
